To connect all young children aged 0-6 with nature every day in Dubuque, we’re on a mission to:
Inspire a community movement to foster awareness and buy-in.
Empower households, caregivers, and educators with tools, training, continuing education, and resources.
Collaborate with the community to bridge gaps in equitable access to nature.
Focus on nature space improvements that support community climate resilience.
We’re in an exciting phase of our initiative — conducting research, hosting community focus groups, and gathering insights.
These efforts allow us to understand how best to connect Dubuque’s young children with parks and nature.
Right now, we’re listening carefully to parents, educators, caregivers, and community leaders to ensure we’re building strategies that truly meet the needs of Dubuque.
The Children & Nature Network, the National League of Cities, and KABOOM! selected the City of Dubuque, IA to join the national Nature Everywhere Communities initiative, focused on increasing equitable access to nature where children live, learn, and play.
