Dubuque Forward and partners to develop a new downtown pocket park in 2024.
Utilizing the vacant site of a downtown gas station on the corner of 9th Street and Central Ave, a new pocket park, dedicated to the first responders of Dubuque, will be created in 2024.
Dubuque, September 29, 2023 – Dubuque Forward along with the Mississippi Driftless Regional Foundation and Molo Companies are collaborating to help create Dubuque’s next pocket park.
The corner of 9th Street and Central Avenue will soon be home to a community gathering space dedicated to Dubuque’s first responders. The park design, by Mike Stickley of Stickley Morton Architects, focuses on creating an environment highlighting some of our region’s natural materials and forms.
The park will have multiple features including a shading structure, seating area, and art from local artists celebrating our fire and police departments. Development of the site has already begun with the removal of the existing gas tanks and pavement.
Demolition of the remaining structures are planned for the fall of 2023.
