Dubuque Forward and partners opened downtown pocket park in 2024!

Utilizing the vacant site of a downtown gas station on the corner of 9th Street and Central Ave, a new pocket park, dedicated to the first responders of Dubuque, was created in 2024.

Over the course of 2023 and into 2024, Dubuque Forward, along with the Mississippi Driftless Regional Foundation and Molo Companies collaborated to create a pocket park.

The corner of 9th Street and Central Avenue is now home to a community gathering space dedicated to Dubuque’s first responders. The park design, by Mike Stickley of Stickley Morton Architects, focuses on creating an environment highlighting some of our region’s natural materials and forms.

The park is just one of many ways in which Dubuque Forward is working to support vibrancy and connectivity of the downtown core.
